- Discuss the emerging paradigm of evidence-based practice (EBP) in perspective as a set of methodologies available to the practitioner interested in improving patient outcomes and the delivery of health services.
- Describe the basic principles for evaluating clinical research in the areas of randomized controlled clinical trials, outcomes research, and health services research.
- Describe the concept of evidence-based practice and its application with specific examples.
- Identify situations where evidence-based 'malpractice' must be avoided as evidence-based practitioners attempt to make sense of research, editorials, and media hyperbole as it relates to their clinical setting.
